Cinnabar Systems Announces Cinnabar Canner and Cinnabar License Manager
San Francisco, California, October 30, 2003 - Cinnabar Systems, a developer of tools for professional Java developers, today announced the release of its first two products.
Cinnabar Canner protects Java-based applications from decompilation and reverse engineering by embedding an encrypted version of the application's classes and resources into a native Windows executable. Use of the well-known Blowfish algorithm, implemented in native code, ensures that Canned executables are both fast and secure.
"Cinnabar Canner not only protects the intellectual property assets of the developer, but also simplifies program launching for the end-user," said Steve Clamage, co-founder of Cinnabar Systems. "With Cinnabar Canner, Java applications can finally be distributed without fear of reverse engineering or modification."
Cinnabar License Manager (CLM) enables clients to enforce the licensing terms of their programs at runtime. Each feature of an application can be licensed separately, allowing developers to ship a single binary distribution whose features can be enabled or disabled at runtime based on the license purchased by the customer. CLM supports licensing restrictions based on product name, feature name, domain name, network adapter MAC address, expiration date, and days since first use.
"CLM brings full-featured runtime license enforcement to Java applications in a form that is extremely easy to integrate into an existing product's source code and build process," said Danny Burkes, co-founder of Cinnabar Systems. "The combination of CLM and Cinnabar Canner creates a Java licensing solution that is as secure as existing native-code license managers."
Fully-functional, 30-day demo versions of both products are available immediately from the download page of Cinnabar Systems' website.
